On May 20, the delegation led by the RA NA Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan took part in the in the visiting sitting of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Council. The NA Deputy Speaker Alen Simonyan and the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security Andranik Kocharyan were in the delegation.

Before beginning the sitting the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov received the heads of the CSTO PA parliaments.

The delegations of the CSTO PA Parliaments, as well as the Parliament of the Republic of Serbia having status of an Observer in the CSTO were presented in the CSTO PA Council sitting. The Chairman of the CSTO PA Viacheslav Volodin presided over the CSTO PA Council sitting. At the sitting the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Dastanbek Jumabekov welcomed the participants the importance of the collective cooperation.

At the beginning of the sitting the CSTO PA Chairman Viacheslav Volodin congratulated Ararat Mirzoyan on being elected NA Speaker and on taking part for the first time at the CSTO PA Council sitting. He proposed to hold the CSTO PA Council and plenary sittings by the invitation of the Armenian side in Yerevan in autumn of 2019. The proposal was accepted by the CSTO PA Council all members, and on that a relevant decision was made.

Numerous items were discussed at the sitting. The candidacy of the NA Deputy Speaker Alen Simonyan was approved in the post of the Chairman of the CSTO PA Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation.

Items on the priorities of the Presidency of the Kyrgyz Republic in the CSTO PA in 2019, on the formation of the joint approaches to the OSCE PA, on amending the CSTO PA Working programme for 2016-2020, as well as organizational items were also included in the agenda.
